Map Help
Click on the "Legend/LayerList" button
to toggle the view between the two. When viewing the
LayerList, you can check as many of the "visible" boxes
as you want to show up on the map; however, only one can
be marked "active" at a time. You can also use the
"Refresh Map" button when viewing the LayerList.
Click on the "Overview Map" button to
toggle it on or off. The overview map is the small map
that appears in the top left corner.
Click on the "Zoom In" button and then
click on the map to get a closer view of that particular
area on the map. Each time you click on the map, it will
zoom in more.
Click on the "Zoom Out" button and then
click on the map to distance the view. Each time you
click on the map, it will zoom out more.
Click the "Zoom to Full Extent" button
to view the entire map on the screen.
Click the "Back to Last Extent" button
when you have changed your view and want to go back to
the previous view.
Click on the "Pan" button and then your
pointer changes to a four point arrow, then click and
hold on the map to scan up, down, left, and right. Once
you release the mouse button, the map will pan in
whichever direction you moved.
Click on the "Identify" button and then
click on whichever area on the map where you want to
identify the active layer that is selected (i.e., trees,
streets, etc.
To search for a string, click on the
"Find" button, then at the bottom of the screen a "find"
box will appear. Type in the string you want to search
for (it is case sensitive) then click on the "Find
String" button.
Click on the "Measure" button and then
click on the map at each point that you want the
distance measured.
Click on the "Print" button, then at the
bottom of the screen a "Print Map" box will appear. Type
in the title that you want for your map, and then click
on the "Create Print Page" button. Another window will
open and then you click on File, then Print, then select
the printer and click on the OK button. When printing is
complete you will need to close the print window.
