Salt Lake City's Public Art Program
Salt Lake City's public art program provides opportunities for artists to create artwork that enhance or is integrated into public buildings and public spaces. Established by ordinance, this program is managed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council with oversight from a citizen advisory board, the Salt Lake Art Design Board.
Funding is derived from a number of sources, including the City's general fund, the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City (RDA), bond issues, and partners like the Utah Transit Authority. When a new project has been identified, and the scope, budget and timeline for the project have been determined, a public announcement is issued to interested artists. To receive these announcements, please call the Arts Council at 801.596.5000 or send an email.
Some Calls for Artists are restricted to Utah artists only while others are open to all artists residing in the United States.
Salt Lake County and the State of Utah also administer public art programs.
