Sexual Violence
On October 7, 2009, we helped sponsor and promote a
Community
Dialogue on Sexual Violence. We work closely with
several community organizations to help bring awareness of
this problem in our city and state.

Dialogue on Discrimination Series
During November and December, 2008, ODHR conducted public
"Dialogues on Discrimination." These very successful forums

Diverse Business Day at the
Legislature
This yearly activity is
organized by the ODHR to encourage civic engagement
throughout the City’s diverse communities. . In
2008, nearly 20 minority-owned businesses owners
gathered to learn the process by which a bill
becomes law and how individuals can affect change in
the community. The objective was to encourage
business owners to discover ways in which to build
robust communities through civic involvement— with a
responsibility to ensure prosperity and equality for
all. A highlight of this event was a formal
introduction on the floors of the Utah House of
Representatives and Utah State Senate.
Leadership Utah Fellowship
Awarded by the Mayor’s
Office of Diversity and Human Rights, the Leadership
Utah Fellowship provides a tuition waiver for candidates
to attend the Salt Lake Chamber's Leadership
Utah Program. Leadership Utah is a year-long program
designed by the Salt Lake Chamber to provide opportunities
for business leaders to learn more about the challenges
facing the community. It is ideal for those who are
interested in becoming involved, who want to gain the
tools to make more informed decisions, and who want
to improve their leadership abilities. The Fellowship
is open to Salt Lake City residents who are members of
a diverse community, and the leadership candidates must
currently hold middle- or upper-level management positions
within their organizations. Individuals who
meet the criteria and are interested in becoming involved
in community activities and local affairs are greatly
encouraged to apply.
