Housing Accessibility and Diversity

Salt Lake City’s goal is to make housing as safe and energy efficient as possible. Our mission is to make neighborhoods vibrant and beautiful, to preserve the existing housing stock, make home ownership affordable, and eliminate vacant and substandard housing. As land prices rise and land availability decreases in the Wasatch Region, the challenge to develop affordable housing heightens. The Housing and Neighborhood Development Division oversees numerous housing programs including low-interest housing rehabilitation loans, first-time homebuyer programs, housing development gap financing for affordable and special needs projects and federal grant programs.
